This shows why some stars are so important to the advertising part of the business. They fit in with the way they dress, look and different perfumes they wear and because most people know this and they look up to some of these stars. They will buy the products they are advertising.

Orson Welles
- Orson Welles starred in many films, some of his most famous films are 'Citizen Kane', 'The Trial' and 'The lady from Shanghai'.

- There were a few films that were box office successes, some of them being 'The Stranger' and also 'Citizin Kane' and these all helped him become bigger and more noticed in the studios.

- Orson Welles was attached to a french production company to direct a Shakespeare play of 'King Lear' but this was around the time of his death. Orson Welles struggled with the pressure that he got from many studios, but as a director he was promoted by Universal Studios.

- Orson Welles nominated and won many awards in his acting career, films like 'Citizen Kane' which was ranked as the greatest American movie won an Oscar. 'The Stranger' was nominated for a golden lion, but in 1970 he did eventually win a golden lion. He also won three Grammy awards in his career.

- He started off with small roles in films, he was included in two roles in 'Romeo and Juliet'. Everything got better from then on, he played the main role in 'Citizen Kane' and he also starred in 'The Third man' and many other films.

- Orson Welles was associated with nearly every genre of film there is out there, from crime, to fantasy or even a few westerns. But mostly he did drama films, he was associated within 81 drama films and also did his fair share of documentaries with 64.

- He also played many roles within the films, he was known as a film director, actor, theatre director, screenwriter and also a producer.

- Orson Welles was around for a long time in the film industry, he started off in 1931 and he finished his career in 1985. So he was in the film industry for around 54 years.


Tom Cruise
- Tom Cruise is a very successful actor and he has been included in many successful films, some of his most well known films are 'Rain Man', 'The Last Samurai' and 'War of the Worlds'.

- Tom Cruise was included in the Mission Impossible installments, this was a huge blockbuster success at the box office taking in almost $547million. Tom Cruise was huge on the box office, with 9 of the 10 films he starred in made over $100million. Mission Impossible 3 also went big when it made over $400million on the box office.

- Tom Cruise was attached to his own production company 'Crusie/Wagner Productions' and this company has co-produced several of Cruise's films.

- Tom Cruise has been nominated for three academy awards and he has also won three Golden Globes in his career so far.

- He started off by playing many supporting roles, in films like 'Endless Love' and 'Taps' and he then went on to play many herioc roles in films like 'Mission Impossible' and 'War of the Worlds' are just a few.

- Tom Cruise, has appeared in quite a few films of different genres. He has been involved in many Dramatic films, Thriller and also quite a few Action and Adventure.

- Tom Cruise is mainly an actor, but he has also produced a few films like 'The Devil in the White City' and also the 'Mission Impossible' films.

- Tom Cruise has been in the film industry for 30 years, he started off in 1981 and is still going to the present day.

Differences Between the Two Actors

Some differences between Orson Welles and Tom Cruise is that Orson Welles was known as a film director, actor, theatre director and producer whereas Tom Cruise is only known as an American actor and a producer. The have both been involved in nearly every genre of film there is and they both started off with either supporting or very small roles in films. But both of them changed in the years to come, with them both playing the star characters in many films. Orson Welles won three Grammy Awards where as Tom Cruise won three Golden Globes.
